LOUISBURG - Ruby Wood Powell, 79, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at her home. Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 17, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg, with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. Burial followed in Bunn Memorial Gardens.

She was the daughter of the late David Harrison Wood and Allie Wood and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Noil Powell, and sister, Annie Tevepaugh.

Surviving: her son, Linwood E. Powell of Louisburg; sisters, Lucille Watkins, Dorothy Hale and Patricia Patton, all of Louisburg, Francis Cook and Jean Worley, both of Youngsville, Rose Shearin of Cary, Louise Lassiter of Gainesville, Fla.; brother, Darrell Wood of Louisburg; one grandson; and one great granddaughter.
