NICHOLAS A. GLIATTA JR.


YOUNGSVILLE —Nicholas Anthony Gliatta Jr., 66,  died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Durham. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 27, at New Hope Baptist Church in New Albany, Miss., with Bro. Randy Futral officiating.

He was born in Batesville, Miss., the son of Johnnie Preston Daugherty and Nicholas Anthony Gliatta Sr.   He was reared by his mother and stepfather, Robert Fulton Martin.  He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War from 1967-1974.  

Surviving: wife, Cathy Christian Gliatta of Fulton, Miss.; a son, Anthony (Debra) of Saltillo, Miss.; three daughters, Teresa (Robert) Holcomb of Verona, Miss.; Rhonda Bolen of Saltillo, Miss.; Angela (Mike) Kirk of New Albany, Miss.; stepchildren, Chris Christian of Fulton, Miss.; Cassie (Cody) Hodge of Pontotoc, Miss.; two sisters, Ellen (Joe) Holifield of Laurel, Miss., Sammie (John) Dredge of Mobile, Ala.; brother, Tommy (Jennifer) Martin of Nashville, Tenn.;  11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Johnnie Daugherty Martin, and his stepfather, Robert Fulton Martin.
