YOUNGSVILLE- James Wallace “J.W.” Kornegay, Sr., 91, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at WakeMed. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Saturday March 12) at the Stonewall Farm, 1408 Sid Mitchell Road, Youngsville, with Richard Bunner officiating. Burial will follow in the Kornegay family cemetery.

He was born in Carabelle, Fla., the son of the late George Washington Kornegay and Mary Elizabeth Hunter Kornegay. He was a long-time member and preached for over 50 years at the Church of Christ, 7705 Falls of Neuse Road, and had traveled all across the country as an evangelist.

Surviving: wife, Verlie L. Kornegay; brother, George W. Kornegay; children, James Wallace Kornegay Jr. (Xiaohua) and John Douglas Kornegay (Uwhana); 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
