MADELINE WHITE MOODY

MADELINE WHITE MOODY
BUNN, NC - Madeline Bennett White Moody, 89, of Bunn NC, passed away suddenly at her home on March 13, 2011, while battling lung cancer.  She was born on November 26, 1921, the daughter of Victoria Gay White and James Richardson White.  She was the beloved mother of Donna Moody Spose (Alan Spose), and grandmother of Christopher Alan Spose, Ashley Bennett Spose and Eric Thomas Spose, all of North Haven, CT.

She was preceded in death by: her son, Alan Thomas Moody; her sister, Elizabeth White Sykes; and her husband/soul mate, Clyde Thomas Moody, Jr.

She had a passion for vegetable and flower gardening, bird watching, crossword and jigsaw puzzles; other hobbies over the years were reading and playing canasta.  She was a devoted wife and mother, following her husband around the country, while he was enlisted in the Army during WW II, when he attended City College in NY, when he attended/graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, and during his 30 plus years of employment with Burlington Industries (which took him to: Burlington, NC; Altamahaw-Ossipee, NC; Reidsville, NC; New York City; back to Reidsville, NC) until finally retiring back home in Bunn.

She also leaves behind two brothers, Melton White (Naomi) and Jasper White (Louise); a niece, Mary Ann Sides, whom she loved like a daughter, and whom Madeline could call day or night; Rev. Jimmy Sides (Mary Ann), who was a good friend and great source of comfort and strength over the years; a nephew, Michael Moody and his wife Sue, who were always willing to do needed “home improvements” as Madeline aged, and could always make her laugh during their visits; and numerous other nieces and nephews.  She was blessed to have the support of so many loving friends and extended family members that would visit her often to brighten her day, many times bringing her flowers, home cooked meals, pies, cakes, chocolates - and even homemade ice cream.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning, March 17, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin Street, Louisburg, NC. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am, at the Bunn Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Sides and Dr. Jo Ann Stancil.
