ANN MARIE T. LEWIS


PILOT - Ann Marie Tanner Lewis, 79, died Friday, March 18, 2011 after a four-year battle with melanoma.   Funeral service was conducted Monday, March 21, at Pilot Baptist Church.  Burial followed in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Rocky Mount. In her early years, she owned Marie’s Grill in Rocky Mount. Marie worked on the farm, raising five children. She also worked at Glaxo, where she retired after 10 years.  After her husband’s death in 2009, she went to live in Raleigh with her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ronnie Strickland.

Surviving, in addition to Sandy and Ronnie, are daughter,  Kim Zdebiak (Tom) of Rocky Mount; sons, Rick Lewis (Sunny) of Raleigh, Glenn Lewis (Mary Anne) of Pilot and Phil Lewis (Heather) of Oklahoma; sister, Helen High of Rocky Mount; and brother, Sonny Tanner of Rocky Mount; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
