ALEXANDRIA, VA— Bess Poole Hart, 89, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Alexandria, Va. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Pilot Baptist Church, 8103 NC 39 Highway S, Zebulon.

Born in Sussex County, Va., she was the daughter of Garland and Bessie Poole of Pilot.

Surviving: son, Peter Hart; daughter, Penine Hart; brother, Charles Randolph Poole of Wendell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of 58 years of the late Earl Thomas Hart of Youngsville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by Milton, Maxine, Doret, Tom, Mildred, Hardy, Phyllis, Chad and Virginia Caroline.
