DANE ROTEN


RALEIGH - Dane Roten, 79, died at Unihealth Post-Acute Care of Durham on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Services were held Saturday, April 16, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road.

He was born in Ashe County to the late George Dewey and Flossie Arnold Roten. He served two years in the Navy and graduated from NCSU with a BS in Forestry. His 40-year career was spent with the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Division of Forest Resources. He retired in 1993.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Glenn Roten, Gwyn Roten and Edward Roten; and a sister, Elva Bumgardner.

Surviving: wife, Vera Roten; son, Randy Roten of Franklinton; daughter, Dana Weaver (Charles) of Raleigh; brothers, George Dewey Roten Jr. of West Jefferson and Ray Roten of Raleigh; sister, Mary Bare of West Jefferson; and one granddaughter.
