YOUNGSVILLE - Donald Vandemergel, 91, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Rex Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Saturday, April 30) in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Myers officiating.

He was born in Pennsylvania, the son of the late Pauline and Arthur Vandemergel, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he paraticipated in the invasion of Normandy.

Surviving: wife, Evelyn G. Vandemergel; daughters, Linda DeLattre (Richard) of Raleigh, Nancy Engle, Donna Branas and Catherine Lauer, all of Pennsylvania; sister, Naomi Onariezek of Pennsylvania; brothers, Luke Smith and James Smith, both of Pennsylvania; and eight grandchildren.
