KENNETH D. “KIMBO” PETERSON


FRANKLINTON - Kenneth D. “Kimbo” Peterson, 84, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Franklin Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, June 11) at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel, with Pastor Gary Williams presiding. Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

A Franklinton native, he was born to the late Leon and Iris Kearney Peterson. Before working for the NC Department of Corrections, where he retired in 1989, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a charter member of the Franklinton Rescue Squad and a former employee of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel. He was a member of Oak Level Christian Church.

Surviving: wife, Eunice Peterson, and daughter, Robin Peterson, both of Franklinton; half brothers, Curtis Perry (Annie Mae) of Fuquay-Varina and Rodney Perry of Georgia; half sister, Patricia Bailey of Angier; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
