KNIGHTDALE —Emmie Rose Denton Straughn, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at Rex Healthcare. A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 16, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, Knightdale.

She was born in Franklin County to the late Buster Denton and Hettie Jones Denton.

Surviving: husband, William Eugene “Billy” Straughn; daughter, Genia Rose Straughn (Kim) of Knightdale; sons, William Eugene “Gene” Straughn II (Crystal) of Wake Forest, Charles Shelton Holland of Raleigh; sisters, Helen Edwards, Beatrice Noland, Frances Bass, Wilma “D” Mitchell, all of Youngsville; brothers, Richard Denton (Gail), J. R. Denton  (Brenda), both of Youngsville; two grandchildren;  and one great-grandson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jarvis Holland.
