WILLIAM ALBERT PERRY, JR.
March 11, 1935 – October 8, 2011


RALEIGH - William Albert Perry, Jr., age 76, passed away October 8, 2011 at his Raleigh residence. Surrounded by family, he was a loving father to his four daughters, three stepdaughters, and doted over his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His greatest joy came from playing with his grandchildren, teaching them to build wooden airplanes and telling them tall tales.

Bo, as he was called by friends and family, served aboard the USS Redfin (SSR-272, SS/AGSS-272) from 1957 to 1961 as 1st  Petty Officer with tours throughout the Caribbean, Europe, and North Atlantic.  In later years, he worked as a carpenter with Carolina Builders in Raleigh, NC until retirement.

He is the son of the late William Albert Perry and Lucindy Collie Perry of Franklinton, NC, and brother to Agnus McGee and Mary Lou Tant, also deceased.  He is survived by his wife Mary Moffitt of Raleigh; sisters Thelma Moffitt of West Jefferson and Annie P. Nowell of Franklinton; his daughters Lisa Lynn Davis of Fayetteville, Judith Gaines of Cary, Susan Gonzalez and Kathleen Taylor of Raleigh; stepdaughters  Margie Oakes, Peggy Harmon, and Debbie Mahon of Hickory; grandchildren, Richard Lee Lewis, Jennifer Davis Robinson, Amanda Isabela Gonzalez, Kevin Perry Davis and Sara Morgyn Gaines;  and greatgrandchildren, Maykayla and Tyler Lewis.

The family will celebrate his life in a Memorial gathering October 30, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wake Forest Community House at 133 W. Owen Ave., Wake Forest, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Wake County or the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
