FRANKLINTON —Betty Carter Gay, 73, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Nov. 11, at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born in Wake County and was the daughter of the late Georgia Inez Laughter Carter and Thomas Henry Carter Sr.

Surviving: husband, Robert E. Gay; daughter, Virginia Alford (Herbby) of Youngsville; son, Michael Gay (Sandi) of Youngsville; sister, Patricia Carter of Garner; brothers, Tommy Carter (Jean) of Durham and Durwood Carter of Princeton; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
