KENNETH V. McCURRY
January 2, 1923 – December 20, 2011


LOUISBURG – Kenneth Vernon McCurry, 88, of Louisburg, passed away Tuesday night.

Mr. McCurry was the son of the late George Washington and Elsie McMahan McCurry and was a native of Buncombe County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Margaret C. McCurry; sisters, Johnsie M. Holden, Audrey M. Stanford, Virginia M. Strong; half sisters, Mamie Ray, Aileen R. Fair; half brothers, Jerome Ray, Jeter McCurry, Landon McCurry and Roy McCurry. He was a member of Hickory Rock Baptist Church, and a member of the James A. Johnson Masonic Lodge #413. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He worked for Progress Energy for 37 years and retired in 1986.

Funeral service was 12 p.m. Friday at Hickory Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Luke Smith officiating. The family received friends 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment followed in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. McCurry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rita M. and Vernon Dickerson; grandson, Travis V. Kemp; great-granddaughter, Gracey E. Kemp, all of Louisburg; sister, Myrtle M. Hill of Knoxville, TN.

The family received friends other times at the home of Rita and Vernon Dickerson, 141 Ball Airport Rd., Louisburg.
