LOUISBURG – Ruth Harper Godfrey, 82, of Louisburg, passed away Tuesday night surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Godfrey was a daughter of the late Clement and Nora Lee Rowe Harper. She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Harper. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and faithful servant to Christ.  A funeral service was conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends 1 hour prior to the funeral.

Ruth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Rick Snyder of Richmond, VA; Joy and James Justice of Raleigh; son and daughter-in-law, Colt and Catherine Godfrey of Raleigh; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth H. and Martin Opyd of Louisburg; grandchildren, Christina Peek; Michael Justice, Lindsey Justice, Will Justice and Joseph Justice; Tony Snyder.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 111 Laurel Mill Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.
