WENDELL – Jean Glover Roberts, 82, died  Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012.  The family will receive friends Saturday, Jan. 21, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell.  A memorial service and the disbursement of her remains will be held at her home place in Wilson.

She was daughter to the late William Turner & Rita Griffin Thomas of Wilson.  She was preceded in death by husbands John Lindsay Glover and Mack I. Roberts.  She was a resident of Wendell for over fifty years and was executive director of the Wendell Chamber of Commerce.  She and her husband, John, owned Glover Realty Company.  She previously owned Kids’ Stuff Children’s Store. She was a member of the Wendell Christian Church where she directed the youth choir for several years. 

Surviving:  daughters, Virginia Jean Glover of Richmond, Va., Anne Glover Fowler of Wake Forest, and Helen Glover Horton (Joe) of Selma; sister, Charlotte Thomas Haene of Charlotte; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 3200 Atlantic Ave., Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27604 or any local Hospice organization.
