DON SCARBORO


ROCKY MOUNT - Don Scarboro, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012. A worship service celebrating his life will be held at Lakeside Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. Following the service, interment will be held at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount.

He was the third child of the late Bert and Mamie Johnson Scarboro of Aaron Station, Ga. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1939 and served on anti-submarine patrols during World War II in the St. Thomas Virgin Islands for 32 months. He later attended flight school and earned his wings as a naval fighter pilot. He retired from the military at the rank of Captain in 1961. He and his family settled in Rocky Mount where he owned and operated Southeastern Adjustment Company for 20 years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two children, Donna Lane Scarboro and William Gregory Scarboro; siblings, Cecil S. Scarboro, John A. Scarboro, Kathryn Scarboro Fischer, Karl Scarboro Olliff, and Jason M. Scarboro.

Surviving: wife, Audrey Fulcher Scarboro of Rocky Mount; son, Don William (Bill) Scarboro (Rebecca) of Franklin, Va.; daughters, Lynne S. Cotter (Peter) of Raleigh and Carol S. Willis (Dennis) of Franklinton; siblings, Frances S. Henton of Savannah, Ga., and Richard G. Scarboro of Statesboro, Ga.; and seven grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Lakeside Baptist Church or the Naval Relief Fund.
