ZEBULON - Jack Burns Keene, 80, died Saturday, March 10, 2012. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 13, at Hephzibah Baptist Church, Wendell.

He was born in Guilford County to the late Frank Raymond Keene and Nell Burns Keene. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, and his earthly remains will be buried at sea by the United States Navy.

He retired from N.C. State Government with 16 years of service as a computer analyst programmer.

Surviving: wife, Joanne Murray Keene; daughters, Tina Sprenkle (Ken) of Las Vegas, Nev., Toni O’Connell of Mystic, Conn; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Max G. Keene.

His wishes were that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Hephzibah Baptist Church Building Fund or SPCA of Wake County, 200 Pet Finder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
