WAKE FOREST - Richard Addison Mitchell Sr., 80, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at his home. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, April 19, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Ravan and the Rev. Julian Motley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Mary Bailey Lloyd Mitchell and Talmadge Addison Mitchell, and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from NC State University as a groundskeeper.

Surviving: wife, Fannie Allsbrook; daughter, Winta Hill (Tommy) of Wake Forest; sons, R.A. Mitchell Jr. (Cathy) of Zebulon and Joseph Mitchell (LaVerne) of Wake Forest; sister, Belle Woodlief of Wake Forest; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Mitchell, and one granddaughter.
