COOPER B. BEASLEY


ZEBULON - Cooper Bryant Beasley, 75, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at his home in Zebulon. At his request, there will be no public funeral service.

A lifelong resident of North Carolina, he was born in Cary, the youngest son of the late Willie D. and Lessie S. Beasley. A skilled brick mason by trade, his craftsmanship can been seen in his work on residential and commercial buildings across several counties, including the North Carolina Museum of Art, Memorial Hall on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill, and several buildings on the campus of N.C. State University.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Eustace and W. D. Beasley Jr.

Surviving: wife, Bertha A. Beasley of Zebulon; daughters, Beth Beasley of Hampton, Va., Paula Beasley of Raleigh, Catherine Beasley of Cary and Sylvia Ortiz of Raleigh; sons, David and Ruben Ortiz of Texas; brother, Earle A. Beasley of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; sister, Evelyn Steijn of West Chester, Pa.; six nieces; four nephews; and 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County or to Duke Raleigh Hospital.
