CALVIN S. AYSCUE


HENDERSON - Calvin Simmons “Cuz” Ayscue, 82, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Liberty Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Bryan Breland, the Rev. Tammy Ayscue, and the Rev. Clyde Waiden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Melvin Wellons Ayscue and Mary Tharrington Ayscue. He was a retired tobacco farmer, a lifelong member of Liberty Christian Church and a charter member of the Epsom Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving: wife, Juanita Smith Ayscue; daughter, Kathy A. Causby (Stan) of Raleigh; sons, Gilbert Ayscue (Barbara) of Powell, Tenn., Mark Ayscue (Mary Lynn) of Rocky Ford, and Michael Ayscue (Michelle) of Epsom; sisters, Sally A. Cottrell of Henderson and Fannie A. Faulkner of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys A. Edwards and Elaine A. Wrenn; and four brothers, Jack Ayscue, M. W. Ayscue Jr., Richard Ayscue and Donald Ayscue Sr.
