GEORGE W. SHEARIN


MORRISVILLE —George Willis Shearin, 85, died Friday, July 27, 2012. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Grey Stone Baptist Church by Dr. Clay Waters, Burial was in Warren Plains Memorial Gardens near Warrenton.

He was born in Nash County to the late Mamie Frazier Shearin and Colonel Henry Shearin. Before retiring, he was employed with Duke University Public Safety with 24 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving: wife, Mildred Shearin of Morrisville; son, Victor Shearin of Durham; daughters, Laura Roberts of Wake Forest and Caroline Peaden (Mickey) of Bear Grass and Cheryl Dulin (Harvey) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three stepsons, Bill Edwards (Darlene) of Roxboro, Gerald Edwards of Louisburg, and Ronnie Boone (Cathy) of Durham County; stepdaughter, Deborah Crawford (Lynn) of Cary; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
