THOMAS C. ALSTON JR.


APEX - Thomas C. Alston Jr., known to his family and friends as “Cut,” died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Apex United Methodist Church on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service. Interment will follow at a later date in Siler City.

He was born to Thomas Cheatham and Mitty Y. Alston in Louisburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended Louisburg College, was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College, and held an M. Ed. from UNC-Chapel Hill. He retired from the N.C. State Board of Education in 1988, where he was a supervisor of teacher allotment.

He was predeceased by his wife, Christine S. Alston, and two sisters, Viola A. Mangum and Jennie A. Watson.
Surviving: 12 nieces and nephews and their children.
