RALEIGH - Betty Carolyn Hayes, 54, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 28) at Woodland Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was born to Charlie Wesley Penny and the late Nora Mae Penny. She joined Woodland Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and also attended Rock Spring Baptist Church in Creedmoor.

Surviving: a daughter, Tomeka Hayes of Raleigh; sons, Milton Hayes of Henderson, Billy Hayes of Youngsville and David Hayes of Raleigh; father, Charlie Penny of Raleigh; sisters, Mary Gregory of Louisburg, Ann Pender, Ruby Brodie, Susan Penny and Deborah Penny, all of Franklinton; one brother, Charlie Penny of Raleigh; and seven grandchildren.
