CLARENCE D. JEFFREYS


RALEIGH - Clarence D. Jeffreys, 88, died at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road, with Robin Pipkin officiating, assisted by Tim Wilson, Steve Arentz, and John Kinlaw. Interment followed at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.

He was born in the Rock Spring area of Franklin County to the late Charlie and Emma Jeffreys. Mr. Jeffreys served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WW II in the South Pacific, where he attained the rank of sergeant. He retired from his career as a food broker after 37 years in the trade.

Surviving: sons, Jimmy (Lois) Jeffreys of Niceville, Fla., Richard (Susan) Jeffreys of Raleigh, Grady (Debbie) Jeffreys of Raleigh; daughters, Linda (Larry) Carpenter of Brentwood, Tenn., and Jane (Samuel) Young of Raleigh; brothers, Tommy and Rayford Jeffreys, both of Raleigh; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Carter Jeffreys; three brothers, Frank, Millard, and Randolph, and one sister, Josephine Horton.
