FRANKLINTON - William James Claude McAlister, 88, formerly of Bostic, N.C., died Saturday, April 22, 2006 in a Raleigh hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 25, at Union View Baptist Church, with the Rev. T. J. Kollar officiating.
Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Born in Gaston County, he was the son of Thomas Grady McAlister and Effie Hinson McAlister. Mr. McAlister was a retired insurance auditor and was an Army veteran of World War II and a Mason.

Surviving: his wife, Mary Dobbins McAlister; a son, Louis McAlister of Franklinton; daughters, Frances M. Kiser and Sherri Childrey, both of Charlotte; a sister, Thelma Ferguson of South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Spencer McAlister.
