JOSEPHINE CATLETT STRICKLAND


KITTRELL - Josephine Catlett Strickland, age 89, a resident of 200 Smith Rd., died peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2007 at her home.

She was a native of Wake County and was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary Ethridge Perry. She was a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a substitute teacher in Franklinton Schools and worked with the Social Services office in Virginia, and she also sold Blair Products. Mrs. Strickland loved to take care of children and also took care of animals.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton by the Rev. Donnie Perkinson and Dr. C. Ray Pruette.

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Purkerson and husband Harry Lee of Spring Hope; two sons, C. Earl Catlett and wife Joyce of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Al Strickland of Kittrell; a special friend, Nancy P. Fuller; one brother, Billy Perry and wife Christine of Henderson; and a sister-in-law, Eveline Medlin; five grandchildren, Kimbol Purkerson, Sherry Wells, David Catlett, Richard Catlett and Janelle LeMeur; five great-grandchildren, Cody Wells, Joshua Catlett, Aaron Catlett, Jordan LeMeur and Parker LeMeur.

The family is very grateful for all the support of friends, Dr. Blackburn & Staff, and the Community Home Care and Hospice.

The body has been carried home, where the family will receive friends until the time of the services on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Biker Church, 718 Lewis St., Oxford, NC 27565.

Arrangements are being handled by the Franklin Funeral Service in Franklinton.
