BETTYE Q. DUNSTON-GOMES


PROVIDENCE, RI - Bettye Queen Dunston-Gomes, 64, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 18, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. H. Balark Jr. officiating. Interment followed at North Burial Ground, Providence.

She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Ulysses Dunston and the late Eugenia Conyers-Dunston, and the granddaughter of the late Otha and Bettye Foster-Dunston.

She worked 30 years as a beautician and also worked 10 years as a teacher’s aide for the Providence, R.I. Public School System.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Bruce Lewis; three brothers, LeRoy, Corse and Theion Dunston.

Surviving: her husband, Richard Gomes; sons, Anthony and Steven Dunston; daughters, Chandra and Dina Dunston; brothers, Kenneth L. Dunston of Providence, R.I., and Raymond M. Dunston of Temple Hills, Md.; sisters, Emma J. Etienne of Providence, R.I., and Mae Gill of Louisburg; and many other relatives and friends.
