FRANKLINTON - Ernest Leroy Pendleton, 71, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Sunnybrook Healthcare. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born in Franklin County, son of Mary Helen Ross Pendleton and Ernest Morris Pendleton. He was a member and held many positions with the Franklinton American Legion Post 52 and the 40/8 Voiture 1174 of Franklin County, and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.

Surviving: his wife, Shirley McGhee Pendleton; daughter, Joan Carol Timberlake of Youngsville; mother, Mary Pendleton of Franklinton; sister, Daphine Preddy (Buddy); and one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 1245 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Franklinton, NC 27525 or to Franklinton American Legion Post 52, 40 American Legion Road, Franklinton, NC 27525.

Friends may visit with the family following the service at the home of Joan Timberlake, 230 Beaver Ridge Drive, Youngsville, NC 27596.
