WAKE FOREST - Elsie Wiggins Mangum, 92, died Saturday, Aug. 18, at Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 22) at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Emma Aurelia Bridges Wiggins and James Walter Wiggins. She was married to Howard Mangum, who preceded her in death.

Surviving: sons, William H. Mangum (Paige) of Harpswell, Me., and Travis Mangum (Amy) of Shelby; sisters, Myrtle Bailey and Mozelle Wheeler, both of Louisburg, and Lola Place of Fairfax, Va.; and six grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Mangum Searle; sisters, Mamie Hill and Bessie Cooke; and brothers, Stephen Wiggins, Woodrow Wiggins, and Haywood Wiggins.
