DURHAM - Ernest James Dickerson Jr., 83, died Saturday morning, Aug. 25, 2007. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Clements Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Norman Davis officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Franklinton, the son of the late Mary C. and Ernest James Dickerson Sr. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Burlington Industries.

Surviving: his wife, Mollie Jane Dickerson; a daughter, Cindy D. Beard (John) of Durham; sons, Roger Dickerson (Kim) of Greensboro, Bobby Dickerson (Margie) of Durham, and Tony Dickerson (Linda) of Bahama; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
