KURE BEACH - Dorothy Gattis Pierce, 69, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, in Raleigh Memorial Park on Glenwood Drive, by Dr. A. Watkins.

She was born in Louisburg, daughter of the late Howard Gattis, and is survived by her mother, Ruby Gattis. She was a retired employee of the State of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.

Surviving: sons, Richard P. Pierce III (Betsy) of Lenoir and Michael K. Pierce (Ann) of Wilmington; daughter, Suzanne L. Pierce of Raleigh; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Town of Kure Beach, Americans with Disabilities Act Committee, c/o Dottie Pierce, 117 Settlers Lane, Kure Beach, NC 28449.
