CLAYTON - George Dexter McGhee, 76, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 3) in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clyde Waiden Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. McGhee was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Irene Haley McGhee and Robert McGhee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Horton McGhee. Mr. McGhee was a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving: his daughter, Vickie Woodard; sister, Elaine Smith of Franklinton; brother, Robert McGhee of Wake Forest; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.
