YOUNGSVILLE - Lloyd Stires, 96, died of natural causes on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Wake Forest. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Stires was born in Fahrenburg, Mo., to Pearl Nolan and Charles Columbus Stires. As a youth, Mr. Stires learned to work hard on the family farm. He owned an aluminum window business, and worked for Lockheed Aircraft in California and Georgia, and as a general manager in Japan.

Surviving: two sons, David Stires (Joyce) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Chuck Stires (Connie) of Youngsville; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Viola.
