FRANKLINTON - Alonza L. “Lonnie” Blackley, 91, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 in a Henderson hospital.

A graveside service was conducted Monday, May 15, in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. Carl E. Hunter officiating.

Born in Granville County, he was the son of Charlie B. Blackley and Meredith Meekins Blackley.

He was a retired farmer. Mr. Blackley was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Sims Blackley.

Surviving: his daughter, Donna B. Parham of Franklinton; a sister, Gertie Harris of Durham; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Building Fund, 1245 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Franklinton, NC 27525.
