ZEBULON - Donald Gill Burgess, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007. Services will be conducted today (Saturday, Dec. 8) at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. A visitation with the family is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the services will begin at 2 p.m.

He had recently retired from Sprint/Embarq after 35 years of dedicated service as an operator services manager. He served with the U. S. Coast Guard and was a Vietnam veteran.

Surviving: his wife, Lynda; daughter, Christie of Washington, D.C.; son, Brent of Henderson; sister, Mildred McCart of Louisville, Ky.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Wake County SPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
