WILLIE MAE H. HAYES


FRANKLINTON - Willie Mae Harris Hayes, 95, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 8, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Youngsville, with the Rev. Samuel T. Tunstall officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Franklinton.

She was born in Franklin County to the late Otis and Fannie Harris. In the early 1950s, she moved to Rahway, N. J., but later returned to Franklin County. For the past several months, she had resided at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest.

Mrs. Hayes was married to the late Willie Clinton Hayes. Two children, James Alvin Hayes and Thelma H. Roach, preceded her in death.

Surviving: three sons, William B. Hayes of Franklinton, Samuel Hayes of Elizabeth, N. J., and Alphonza Hayes (Bertha) of Youngsville; 14 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
