JOHN “JACK” FITZGERALD


APEX - John “Jack” Fitzgerald, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Road, Apex.

He was born in Troy, N.Y., to Andrew and Elizabeth Fitzgerald. He retired from SUNY Construction in 1984, and retired a colonel in the National Guard in 1982.

Surviving: nine children, Karen Tamlyn of Apex, Maureen Anderson of Cary, Sheila Evans of Cream Ridge, N.J., Colleen Flemming of Cary, John Fitzgerald of Franklinton, Barron Fitzgerald of Columbia, S.C., Michael Fitzgerald of Loveland, Colo., Richard Fitzgerald of Cary, and Scott Fitzgerald of Mexico, N.Y.; sisters, Carol Dirolf, Maureen Fitzgerald and Mary Fitzgerald, all of Plattsburg, N.Y.; brothers, Richard Fitzgerald of North Creek, N.Y., and Thomas Fitzgerald of West Paris, Maine.; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvette Allie Fitzgerald.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary.
