FRANKLINTON - Cary D. Montague, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at Britthaven of Louisburg. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at First Baptist Church, Franklinton, with the Rev. André Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Franklinton.

He was the son of the late Moses and Annie Montague. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy for several years, after which he relocated to Delaware where he worked as a brick mason until his retirement. In later life, he returned to his hometown of Franklinton.

Surviving: a daughter, Tanya; sisters, Mae Hawkins (Herbert) of Washington, D.C., Christine Spruill of Willingboro, N.J., and Clara Hammett of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
