EULA MAE BARTHOLOMEW MOORE


LOUISBURG – Eula Mae Bartholomew Moore, 96, of Britt-haven Nursing Center, Louisburg, passed away March 4, 2008. She and seven siblings were reared in the White Level community by their parents, Joseph Nick and Bettie Joyner Bartholomew. All preceded her in death except for her sister, Mrs. Mary Etta Edwards of Henderson, NC. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ois Lyman Moore, and grandson, Joseph Philip Moore, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Philip Moore, Sr. and his wife, Betty Davis Moore, of Wake Forest; two granddaughters, Patricia Moore Miller of Wake Forest and Dianne Moore Reed and her husband, George, of Glenolden, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Jamie Sue Moore of Wake Forest, Steven George Reed of Columbia, SC, and Jonathan Lyman Reed of Glenolden, Pa; many nieces and nephews; and a special person in her life, Mr. Harold Kelly of Roxboro, NC.

Mrs. Moore was employed at Oxford Orphanage from 1958-1988 as a House Mother and Clothing Department Counselor. Her love for the children and her devotion and contributions to Oxford Orphanage were recognized by the students and faculty in 1988, when they dedicated their annual Year Book to her. After retirement, she continued to use her seamstress talents to sew for many persons in the Louisburg community.

Funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2008 in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg, with Dr. Reggie Rushing officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial was at Hill King UMC Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisburg Baptist Church, 302 N. Main St., Louisburg, NC, 27549.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Toney, 203 Loy Drive, Louisburg, graciously made arrangements for family members to meet at their home following the burial.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving, personal care provided Mrs. Moore by Britthaven Nursing Center and the outstanding professional medical attention afforded her by Franklin Regional Medical Center and Perry-Medders Medical Clinic.
