RALEIGH - Viva H. Gilliam died Sunday, March 30, 2008. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 2) at Hayes Barton Baptist Church, Raleigh, with Dr. David J. Halley officiating. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park. She was born in Franklin County to John and Undine (Andrews) Hagwood. She was recognized by Southern Living magazine as an “angel among us” for her many acts of kindness in the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis M. “Mac” Gilliam.

Surviving; one daughter, Phyllis G. Clark (Larry) of Durham; brother, Donald “Bruddy” Hagwood of Youngsville; one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Hayes Barton Baptist Church.
