LUTHER WALKER


WAKE FOREST - Luther Walker, 67, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 15, at Corinth United Church of Christ in Youngsville, with the Rev. Donnel Haywood officiating. Burial followed in the New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Rolesville.

He was born in Wake County to the late Arain Walker and Sadelia Mangum Walker. He owned and operated Walker’s Logging Company and was a member of the National Association of Loggers. He was one of the founders of the gospel singing group The Carolina Skyways of Wake Forest.

Surviving: his wife, Frances G. Walker of the home; daughter, Sonya Walker (Robbie Foster Sr.) of Wake Forest; a son, Aaron Walker Sr. (Aleshia) of Wake Forest; two sisters, Dorothy Black and Ressie Williams (Leonard), both of Wake Forest; brothers, Bobby Walker and Linwood Walker, both of Raleigh; and five grandchildren.
