RALEIGH - Joseph Romus Pearce, 74, died Saturday, April 26, 2008. A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, April 29, at Montlawn Memorial Park, South Wilmington Street, Raleigh.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of Romus and Kathleen Jeffreys Pearce. He served in the U.S. Army and taught in the university and community college systems, as well as at St. Andrews College.

Surviving: his son, Joseph R. Pearce Jr. of Raleigh; daughter, Elizabeth Pearce Murray of Wake Forest; and four grandchildren.
