GOLDSBORO - Mrs. Martha Kearney Gilbert, 63, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at First Baptist Church in Eureka, with Evangelist Retha Hooper and Dr. Odell Forte officiating.

Mrs. Gilbert was born in Franklin County to the late Garfield Kearney and Angeline Mann Kearney. She had worked with A-Z Automotives, formerly Aenta Industries, Inc.

Surviving: her daughters, Toni Gilbert of Detroit, Mich., Alissa Dobbin (Carlos) of Pikeville, Faith G. Darby (Brian) of Goldsboro, Nicole Gilbert and Alana Gilbert, both of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Dorothy Davis of Petersburg, Va., and Pearl Johnston of Newark, N.J.; brothers, Robert Kearney and Roosevelt Kearney, both of Louisburg, and Elmus Kearney of Newark, N.J.; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Garfield Kearney, James Kearney, John Kearney, and a sister, Edna Avery Lane.
