NEW BERN - John Harold Talton, 79, died Friday, March 23, 2008 at his home. A memorial service was conducted Monday, May 26, at Christ Episcopal Church in downtown New Bern.

He was a former vice president of First Citizens Bank in Louisburg and served on the Louisburg College Board of Trustees. Later appointed Senior Regional Vice President for Eastern North Carolina, he retired in 1994 after 43 years with First Citizens Bank. He also served in numerous community organizations.

Surviving: his wife, the former Patricia Smith; a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Talton Bump of Virginia Beach, Va.; son, John Talton Jr. (Kathryn) of Pinehurst, David Smith Talton (Sara) of Tupelo, Miss.; brothers, William Talton and Kenneth Talton; sisters, Joyce T. Gibson and Elizabeth T. Samblesson; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Capital Campaign or Tryon Palace Commission for the NC History Education Center.
