JIMMY and MARY CHARLES HOLMES



LOUISBURG - Jimmy and Mary Charles Holmes of Louisburg died together on Thursday, June 26, from injuries received in an auto accident. Funeral services were Sunday, June 29, at Flat Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary McNair and Mr. Rich Cash officiating.

Entombment followed in the church cemetery.

Mary Charles was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Bessie Denton Hunt and Mark Henry Hunt. She retired from human resources at IBM in the Research Triangle Park.

Jimmy was born in Wake County, the son of the late Ethel Hill Holmes and Fred Riddick Holmes. He was a graduate of Youngsville High School. He retired from the State of North Carolina after 32 years of service. He was conferred The Order Of The Long Leaf Pine by Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. in January of 2000.

Surviving: their daughter, Marbeth Holmes and Donnie Baker of Louisburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Charles is survived by her sisters, Elsie Gray Pernell of Henderson, Josephine Driver, Shirley Hinson (Kirby), both of Louisburg; many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy is survived by his brothers, F. C. Holmes of Louisburg and Doug Holmes of Youngsville; sisters, Nadine Lawson (Ertle) of Knightdale and Betty H. Holmes of Louisburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Yates Holmes, and they were preceded in death by one grandson.
