CLAUDE H. CANNADY



NEWARK, N.J. - Claude Howard Cannady, 74, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Beth Israel Hospital following a short illness. A memorial service and interment were conducted Sunday, June 29, at Popes United Church of Christ in Franklinton, with the Rev. Mattie K. Kearney presiding.

He was born in Youngsville to the late Adell Cannady and Theodore Mangrum, and was educated in the Franklin County school system. In 1954, he moved to Newark, N.J., where he was employed with Allan Industries of Rahway, N.J. He was a member of Greater Apyssinian Baptist Church of Newark.

Surviving: his sisters, Catherine C. Crudup and Janice M. Mangrum of Franklinton, Mildred M. Cheatham of Kittrell, Evelyn M. Kearney and Myrtle M. Kearney of Newark, N.J.; one brother, Thadius Mangrum of Newark, N.J.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
