WILLIAM G. “BILL” KING
December 20, 1940 – August 11, 2008


LOUISBURG – William “Bill” Garland King, 67, of Louisburg, died Monday afternoon.

Bill was a son of the late Herbert Glenn and Lillie Mae Champion King. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert King, Jr. and L.C. King; and his nephew, Greg King. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a Sunday School Director and Teacher and directed the choir. He was a dedicated public servant working as a law enforcement officer in Louisburg, Youngsville, Franklinton and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. Bill was a former volunteer fireman with the Louisburg and Gold Sand fire departments. He was a devoted Duke Blue Devils fan. But most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Foster Family Cemetery.

Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois Foster King; daughter and son-in-law, Angela King McCracken and David McCracken; son and his fiancé, Tony King and Sharon Davis, all of Louisburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Darlene King of Elon, Payton and Joyce King of Cary; grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth McCracken, Madison and Holden Davis; several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 111 Laurel Mill Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family will receive friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
