LOUISBURG – Melleny Gilbert Ward, 83, of Louisburg, died Thursday afternoon at her home.

Ward was a daughter of the late Hattie Bell Young and Walter John Gilbert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin S. Ward; son, Michael B. Ward; sister, Nancy Yates, Ann Gilbert, Leola Micco, Paula Criscuolo, Thatcher Sanders, Betty Gray Gilbert and Lizzie Fariese Gilbert.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Ward is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Donna Ward and Fred Kinney of Louisburg; brother and sister in-law, John W. and Ruby Gilbert of Louisburg; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
