D. WATSON MITCHINER
September 17, 1918 – November 3, 2008


FRANKLINTON – David Watson Mitchiner, 90, of Franklinton, passed away at his home Monday afternoon.

Watson a North Carolina Century Farmer, was born September 17, 1918 in Franklin County in a home on farmland acquired by his great-grandfather, Festus Mitchiner when he moved from Johnston County about 1859. After serving in the US Army in World War II from December 1944 to October 1946, he returned home and farmed this land his active life. He was a member of the Franklinton American Legion Post 52 for 40 years and a volunteer fireman for the Mitchiner’s Cross Roads Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Walton Mitchiner; son, David Watson Mitchiner, Jr.; and wife, Virginia Perry Mitchiner.

Surviving is son Wallace Oliver Mitchiner of the home; sister Lillian Mitchiner Stephenson of Raleigh; niece Susan L. Stephenson of Raleigh, and niece Patricia S. Koppeis of Woodbury, New York.

A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery on Hwy. 39 N., Louisburg, NC at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6th.

The family will receive friends at the home and immediately after the service.
