ERNEST E. WOODLIEF SR.


KITTRELL - Ernest Elliott Woodlief Sr., 67, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Durham Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, Nov. 15) in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, with the Rev. Rob Hammonds officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

He was born in Vance County, the son of the late Kenneth A. Woodlief and Bessie Moss Woodlief.

He was employed as a meat market manager for numerous years and was also a self-employed farmer. He served in the N. C. National Guard and was a part of the Woodlief Family Quartet for 40 years where he sang bass.

Surviving: Margaret M. Woodlief of Raleigh; daughters, Kimberly Louise Woodlief of Raleigh and Roberta W. Bellamy (Terry) of Kinston; a son, Ernest E. Woodlief Jr. of the home; brothers, Edward Woodlief and Ronnie Woodlief (Terryl), all of Kittrell; sister, Geneva W. Harris (Lawrence) of Henderson; stepmother, Grace V. Woodlief of Kittrell; stepsisters, Annette Van Dyke-Lundeby and Sylvia Van Dyke; stepbrother, Eddie Van Dyke; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
